Shy Spirit's Journal Poor Leland. He has not only a detachable scrotum, but a prehensile penis as well! I'm so proud of his mother for choosing circumsicion. Good one Dolly. Laura and I have got to start making better decisions. -Jenn Happy 21st Birthday! *HUGS* You are an incredible woman, I am honoured to call you my friend. Who wants to teach Jenn how to find a point of tangency using partial derivatives? I know how to find a derivative, and an anti-derivative; but I am unsure how to determine a partial derivative. (I believe that it involves holding everything constant…) Any volunteers? I will offer payment in cookies The elusiveness of summer… Just when we think we have it firmly in our grasp and have allowed it to capture our being…something, ever so gently, reminds us of its fleeting existence. For me, this year, it is the onset of August and realization that the return to school is precariously near. Perhaps, this is part of the allure of summer and why I have a strong desire to appreciate each and every moment. I hope you, also, have had the opportunity to embrace the blueness of the sky, the warmth of the sun, and revel in the laziness of the day with family and friends. If you are someone who loves to lose yourself in a good book or experience the richness of travel, I trust you have been able to pursue your passions to rejuvenate your mind and soul. Whatever consumed your time and interest this summer, I sincerely hope it has relaxed and refreshed you. Love, Jenn Once again I had a brush with our province’s flawless health care system: I took a friend to the emergency room where we waited for over six hours to be admitted, and an additional hour to receive her blood results. Here is the catch: she was believed to be suffering from carbon-monoxide poisoning, however the time laps between her contamination and the blood test was too great to differentiate a result. *sigh* On the plus side, this gave us eight hours of quality time together. I was, recently, granted consent of the department to participate in a prestigious political science class during the winter semester; I am elated to say the least. Actually, I am shivering with anticipation for the calibre of discussion that this class shall present. I still have to fulfill another science credit so that I may graduate, this shall be interesting: unless... does anyone know if math is counted as a science? Oh calculus; how I loath thee, it is not because I don’t understand, but because I don’t care… *smiles* I can envision the resent of some of my readers as they scan through this entry: Yes, I recognise the importance of mathematics, precision in calculation and the comprehension of the various theorems: but I have never shared in the excitement for this subject. To be quite honest; the people who are excited by these topics tend to frighten me (oh the memories of Mrs. Ballheim (sp?) and the crazy sub who could draw perfect circles…) On a completely unrelated note, I found a quotation that has offered much inspiration: “I take life with a grain of salt, a slice of lime and a shot of tequila! “ Now those are quality words to live by! Have you ever received a one-line email that has made your entire day? It is amazing when that happens. I have been blessed with such spectacular people in my life. My email is being incredibly slow- so I am going to trust that you will read my journal: Tonight is not good for me, I have plans with a friend from work. How about Friday evening? -Jenn STEPH 1) Do you believe in free will? Why or why not? I believe that there are points in our life that we are fated to reach, but how we choose how we arrive at those points. 2) What is the stupidest thing you have ever heard someone say? “I believe communism is a valid form of governance… “ Yes… maybe in the world of smurfs it is….. 3) If you could have any job in the world, what would it be and why? I would love to become a part of the Canadian Senate… their salaries start at $110 000/year, and move upwards based on the committees in which they partake. Once more, they can write off any vacation and are only expected to attend to legislation five times each year. AMANDA 1) If you could take a road trip across the country with anyone in the world, living or dead, who would it be and why? This is definitely a hard one…. I would take Sir John A. MacDonald with me, to show him this beautiful country that he was the first to lead. 2) If you could go back in time, what era or time period would you go to and would you change anything? I have always expressed a desire to gain a better comprehension of the Roman hegemony, therefore I would travel back to the time of the Roman Empire. Would I change anything? NEVER. I am a strong believer in cause and effect, thus, if you changed any aspect of the past it would dramatically alter our existence in the future. 3) What reality TV show would you go on and why? I would have to say “the Apprentice” because everyone who was “fired” from the show were offered amazing business contracts from other leading companies. The take home final is now complete...... all that I have left to do is write a conclusion and edit my essay.... Then the studying shall begin! On another note: Marta and I have exams saturday morning at 8AM, after we are planning on going for coffee (me, drink coffee? NEVER)- if anyone would like to join us, they are more than welcome. |
